The last week of winter term, 34 students and four faculty from the University's Department of Theatre and Dance attended, performed, and volunteered at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival(KCACTF) Region II at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Three students earned national recognition: Caitlin Thompson, LMDA/ATHE/KCACTF* Student Dramaturgy Award; Meghan Reed, KCACTF Award for Theatrical Design Excellence in Sound Design; and Nate Hart won both the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas Award for Lighting Design and the KCACTF Award for Theatrical Design Excellence in Lighting Design.

Caitlin Thompson also advanced to the Musical Theatre Initiative Finals.

In addition, Carly Williams received the KCACTF Region II Award for Theatrical Design Excellence in Scenic Design. Alexandria Hunter received the First Runner-Up award from the Institute for Theatre Journalism and Advocacy. Annika Jorgensen received the KCACTF Region II Honorable Mention for Allied Design Excellence in Hair and Makeup Design. Lauren Tetlow received KCACTF Region II Honorable Mention for Stage Management Excellence Award.

Cole Batzler was invited to perform at the Cabaret during the festival.

Pat Festa advanced to the Musical Theatre Initiative Finals and, with his scene partner Maria Carroll, advanced to the finals of the Irene Ryan Scholarship.

Hanna Weiss, with her scene partner Josh Waltz, advanced to the Irene Ryan Scholarship semi-finals.

During the week, Associate Professor Len Kelly coached WCU performance students, Assistant Professor John Bellomo responded to acting scenes, and Assistant Professor Martin Dallago and Associate Professor Julie Wunsch both presented workshops.
